I would love to stay I loved yoga the first time I tried it… but that would be a lie. Truth is I hated it!
After a double cervical fusion in 2012, I had tried just about everything to find pain relief. Surgery helped some but I had extremely limited range of motion, my physical body was still in consistent pain which left my mental well being in shambles. Honestly I was desperate to find relief.
When a friend suggested Bikram I remember thinking “What have I got to lose?”. I went to my first yoga class and I absolutely hated it! I remember looking around that 105 degree room thinking “These people are nuts!”.
After class the teacher pulled me aside “I know it sucked but you have to keep coming. You deserve to do this for yourself”. He said it would take at least two weeks to see the results encouraged me to come back the very next day!
My friend who introduced me to yoga encouraged me to join him the next day so I begrudgingly went… and continued to go as much as I possibly could.
By week two my range of motion had drastically improved and by week four I had gone down two full pant sizes!! I started falling in love with the results and how amazing I felt not just physically but mentally…but more importantly, for the first time in a very long time I had hope!
